March 2022 was a major milestone for the ECOFACT project as it reached the end of the first reporting period. Despite some minor delays caused mainly by COVID restrictions, the overall disposition is positive and all the members of the consortium have been able to adapt to this new remote way of working where we have not been able to hold any face-to-face assembly.
Reflecting on the achievements obtained in these first 18 months, we successfully closed our first work package dedicated to establishing our reference framework and methodology. Additionally, the first specifications of our ECOFACT platform were defined like the architecture for decentralized monitoring networks, the Digital Twin platform components specification, the platform architecture and common IT framework and the unified data model.
Focusing on our two pre-demos and four demos, their data sources for dynamic LCA/LCCA have been established as well as the definition of the implementation plans for the project demonstration activities.
The project has also made progress across other activities relating to standardization, certification, regulation, replication, exploitation. We have finished the first preliminary studies of the current framework in terms of standards and certifications. Furthermore, the first definition and characterization of the ECOFACT Key Exploitable results has been established. At the end of the project life cycle, the ECOFACT tool will be developed and these studies will be updated.
Finally, our continuous dissemination and communication activities have been developed during this period as you can see on our website, social media channels and this newsletter. I hope you enjoy this newsletter and thank you for your interest in the ECOFACT project.
