In a virtual setting on November 28th, 2023, ECOFACT, represented by Francisco Morentin, from CARTIF, and Marta Fernández, from UNE, took a role in the plenary meeting of the European CEN and CENELEC Joint Technical Committee 14 (CEN-CLC/JTC 14). This meeting, centred around the progress on the standardization work programme on “Energy management and energy efficiency in the framework of energy transition”, provided a crucial platform for ECOFACT to articulate its objectives and unveil plans for pre-normative development.
Objective and Purpose
The primary objective of participating in this plenary meeting was to present the goals and aspirations of ECOFACT to the esteemed members of CEN-CLC/JTC 14. Francisco and Marta shared a comprehensive overview of the project, with a particular focus on activities within Work Package 7 (WP7) related to standardisation. A key announcement added to the significance of the occasion – the unveiling of plans for a CEN Workshop Agreement (CWA) titled “Requirements for an Energy Management and Sustainable Manufacturing Project.”
By actively participating in this plenary meeting, ECOFACT reinforces its commitment to transparency, collaboration, and the dissemination of knowledge. Presenting the project overview and outlining standardisation activities not only enriches the understanding of CEN-CLC/JTC 14 but also opens avenues for potential synergies between European funds and standardisation initiatives.
Outcomes and Future Steps
The meeting concluded with the commitment to keeping CEN-CLC/JTC 14 informed about ECOFACT’s progress. This fosters a collaborative approach to achieving shared goals in the realm of energy management and efficiency.
As ECOFACT continues to make strides in shaping sustainable practices, this engagement becomes a cornerstone in our journey. Stay tuned for more updates on how ECOFACT navigates the path towards a future marked by energy efficiency and sustainable manufacturing.
