This summary reflects on the progress made in ECOFACT over the past six months, highlighting key achievements and deliverables from March 2024 (Month 42) to September 2024 (Month 48).
WP6 – Demonstration (CERTH)
Key achievements:
- Completed hardware installations across all ECOFACT demo sites.
- Compiled real-time monitoring data lists for all ECOFACT use cases.
- Tested and validated the Athenian Brewery use case, focusing on the optimisation of Must Cooling operations.
- Defined KPIs for the Athenian Brewery use cases
Deliverables submitted: D6.2: Validation tests and lessons learned from E3 Research Factory.
WP7 – Standardization, certification and regulation of energy efficient manufacturing (UNE)
Key achievements:
- Initiated the development of a CEN Workshop Agreement (CWA) on the requirements for implementing Energy Management and Sustainable Manufacturing (EMSM) projects in factories based on ECOFACT results.
- Designed a certification scheme for EMSM projects compliant with the CEN Workshop Agreement.
- Launched a questionnaire targeting demonstration partners and three additional companies to assess their awareness of key climate and energy policy instruments within the European context.
- Identified barriers to promoting new policy instruments and developed recommendations to encourage sustainable practices in the manufacturing sector.

WP9 – Dissemination and Communication (IMR)
Key achievements:
- Successfully delivered the second Training and Educational Workshop in collaboration with CIRCE during ECOFACT’s Month 48 General Assembly at Ulmi, Romania. This session highlighted the ECOFACT Digital Educational Kit and its practical applications, building on the first session.
- Maintained regular updates across ECOFACT communication channels, resulting in follower growth: +8.7% on Twitter and +14.15% on LinkedIn.
- Published Promotional Video 2, showcasing ECOFACT’s progress and impact (View it here https://youtu.be/X-h1SnyhL4s?si=w4LYuHYzEYBvghvI).
- Collaborated with sister-projects E2COMATION, DENiM, iBECOME, GREEN.DAT.AI, and EnerMan to establish the ECOENERGY Cluster under the Horizon 2020 programme, supported by the Horizon Results Booster (HRB). Published joint materials such as a factsheet, promotional video, and policy briefings.
- Hosted the ECOFACT webinar “Enhancing Must-Cooling with DTP Tools and AHP Analysis” on September 10th.
- Disseminated key insights from consortium participation at major industry events, including 31st CIRP Life Cycle Engineering Conference, ETFA 2024, SEB-24 Conference, Autodesk event and ECOFACT M48 General Assembly.
